Job Description
Summary
Baylor College of Medicine's Comprehensive Healthcare Clinic is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant who is proficient in delivering high-level patient care in a fast-paced, dynamic ambulatory care setting. As an MA II, you will perform routine patient care responsibilities and provide clerical/administrative support, but will also perform very specific in-suite testing procedures in a clinical setting.
Job Duties
- Performs routine patient care responsibilities such as taking vital signs, collect specimens, and point of care tests
- Performs comprehensive testing including routine EKG's, placing heart monitors, PFT's. ABl's, cognitive testing, and 24 hour pressure monitoring.
- Notes the primary complaint/reason for the patient's visit.
- Collects patient history, performs medication reconciliation, updates vaccine status, and enters information in the electronic medical record.
- Sets up instruments and equipment for the physician.
- Assists with procedures as needed.
- Administers medication under direction/order of a supervising physician.
- Instructs patients on general care and medical procedures.
- Maintains patient and service rooms in a neat and orderly condition.
- Schedules and operates the Dexa machine to perform Bone Mineral Density Studies and Dexa fit analysis.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED and completion of a Medical Assistant Training program through an accredited institution.
- Two years of relevant experience.
- Current certification as a Medical Assistant through an accredited professional organization (AAMA, AMT, ARMA, NCCT, NHA, NAHP, or AMCA).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through American Heart Association.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
- Prior MA experience in a concierge clinic.
- Strong communication skills.
- Strong customer service skills.
