Job Summary
This position serves administrative and clinically within Student Health Services, providing healthcare services to the AU student population, to include but not limited to primary medical and mental healthcare, and supervising the clinical team that consists of primary care physicians, mid-level providers (nurse practitioners and physician assistants), registered nurses and ancillary staff with physical therapy and dietetics. This includes, but is not limited, to annual performance evaluations, ensuring maintenance of clinical competency standards and policies, peer review, staff scheduling, and professional development.
Responsibilities
The duties include but are not limited to:
IN-PERSON AND TELEHEALTH CARE: Provide in-person and telehealth services to eligible students including, but not limited to, evaluating patients through effective history taking, physical assessment, and determination of appropriate differential diagnosis based on clinical guidelines. This includes performing primary medical and mental healthcare, which includes gender-based health care as well as minor surgical procedures under supervising physicians. Inherent in these responsibilities are: analyzing, interpreting, and evaluating subjective and objective findings to develop an applicable treatment plan and disposition that is consistent with clinical care best practice guidelines; providing appropriate physician or specialty provider referrals as needed; participating in e-prescribing as a capability in serving the patient population; and preparing and executing orders for laboratory studies, vaccines, diagnostic studies (including radiology, EKG, OTC and RX medications, office treatments and procedures pertaining to patient care).
PROVIDE ADMINISTRATIVE DAY-TO-DAY SUPERVISION: Provide administrative day-to-day supervision of clinical staff (full-time, part-time and ancillary providers and registered nurses), which includes collaborating with the Director in strategic planning, overseeing the clinical quality improvement activities, strategic practice drills and risk management initiatives, and ensuring best practice for physical and mental healthcare is maintained across the clinical setting with up-to date policies.
PROVIDE OVERSIGHT: Ensure best practice for physical and mental healthcare is maintained across the clinical setting with up-to-date clinical policies and procedures that are outcome focused, using national clinical guidelines and evidence-based medicine. Work closely with the Director to achieve national AAAHC accreditation and other duties as deemed necessary for the organizational mission.
OTHER: Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university Nurse Practitioner program with a Master's degree. Certified as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or equivalent body. Active and unrestricted licensure for advanced practice nursing from the Georgia Board of Nursing and eligible for APRN protocol approval to practice from the Georgia Composite Medical Board, and credentialing by Student Health Services.
OR
Graduation from an accredited college or university Physician Assistant program with a Master's degree. Certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Active and unrestrictive licensure to practice medicine from the Georgia Composite Medical Board as a Physician Assistant with eligible protocol approval, and credentialing by Student Health Services. Must maintain status as a certified PA, including completion of all requirements for continuing medical education or recertification.
Must maintain status as a certified NP or PA, including completion of all requirements for continuing nursing/medical education or recertification. Must possess a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS/BCLS certification.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in ambulatory care setting, preferably with college age population. Experience in providing comprehensive primary physical and mental healthcare along with providing patient health education. Experience working among a multidisciplinary healthcare team. Experience using electronic health records and patient portal. Experience in supervisory position for greater than one year. Doctoral degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), required within one year of hire.

Certifications/License

Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; M-F (Work outside of the regular business hours may be required)
Pay Band: B16
Salary: $95,200/annually-$121,000/annually
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
